Installing and running Emu48CE
Installing and running Emu48CE is fairly simple. You will need a ROM image
(Emu48 for Windows comes with a program for making ROM images, and fairly
foolproof instructions), and the KML scripts for the emulator. KML scripts
set up the emulators keyboard and display. You will need at least one,
plus any bitmaps which go along with them, and kmi files included in them
(The Emu48CE common archive contains a KML script, with bitmap and associated
kmi files to emulate an HP48SX keyboard. It is a good starting point to
customize your own).
-
Create a directory for Emu48CE on your HPC.
-
Copy the executable to this directory, along with:
-
keyboard.kmi
-
truelcd.kmi
-
sxce.bmp
-
sxce.kml
-
The rom image you made of your hp48
(Substitute whichever bitmap and kml script you want)
-
Run Emu48CE from this directory. You will see a dialog box listing the
installed KML scripts. If this is the first time you have run Emu48CE,
nothing will be in the KML script dropdown.
-
Enter the path to the Emu48CE directory into the dialog box and press the
button with the "V" on it. The combo box should now contain a list of the
installed KML scripts. Note: The path must end with "\". For example, if
you copied Emu48 to a directory called "Emu48" inside "\Program Files"
you should enter "\Program Files\Emu48\".
-
Select the KML script you want to run, and press OK.
-
You should now see a dialog with log information on it. Make sure the ROM
and KML script loaded, then press OK.
Emu48CE should create an HP48 bitmap, and the display should give you the
familiar "Try to recover memory" screen. If you get this far, you're home
free.
